Baptized When The Levees Broke

30.00

At the close of Exhibit BE, 10,000 people filled the parking lot of the abandoned Degaulle Manor apartment complex, a place destroyed by the impact of Hurricane Katrina, and the disaster capitalism that followed. Erykah Badu addressed the growing crowd on a platform stage in front of a 5 story painting of murdered teen George Carter. "I got love fo' my folks, Baptized when the Levees Broke." that moment is forever frozen in my mind, we accomplished something unreal that day, transformed a place that should have evoked so many emotions of pain and frustration, into a story of resilience and power. The water did not destroy us, it only made us stronger. - bmike
